This has been another outstanding year for the Documentary Film course and our students have won another cabinet full of prizes. At the 2009 Ffresh awards we scooped Best Documentary, Best TV programme, Best Drama, Best Short film and the Audience Award. Halb by Rabea Gorny also won the 2009 Royal Television Society award (Wales). Our students and graduates continue to have their films screened at festivals and competitions throughout the world and crucially, continue to break into the British television industry with exciting and innovative work. A graduation film from 2008, ‘Jukebox Juniors,’ received its network premiere on BBC1 in March this year. Some of the 2009 graduating students have been working closely for the last year with veteran documentary filmmaker Paul Watson on a documentary project in London; he described the Documentary Film & Television course as, “the healthiest in the country”.
